When you think you home free with 10 easy miles, the trail gives you 5 miles of lava flows.
The work the trail makers did to creat a walkable trail on these huge rock holes boggles the minds. Thank you
Back to the forest
And we make it back to Fish Lake. On the way we collected a few hikers looking for rides to the nearby resorts. Mike let them pile onto the tiny back of his pickup, and they were thrilled. Now we go get food!

That’s where we are going. Got to the vintage truck, shopped in Medford (ty rose) fed in Medford and went to Callahans to reset our shuttle. Had a great meal, 2 beers, and we shuttles 1.5 hours to the trailhead at Saied Valley (so small no population sign. My partners camped and I was inside Dora’s comfortable berth.
The prelims are over. The next 5 days are serious big boy hiking.
