Chief was in the mood for some miles, so we started about 5:15 am and hit the road. Still sleeping great and feeling good. Today we get some uphills, get to the “Donomore” cabin, climb uphill again and hit the snow drifts. This will be the 3rd tough day in a row.

We hike an hour before the sun is up. (Kinda cool )

Cue the sunrise music please. Thank you.

To save a little time, we started having 1st breakfast on the trail instead of in camp. It did help get us started faster.

Starting to get some bigger snow drifts on the trail. Still many hundreds of feet to climb.

A bathroom in the middle of no where.
Interesting

Nice meadow on the way to the “Do no More” cabin.

Lunch near the cabin before the climb. The lady hikers who lunches here got stung so we set up in the nearby cool trees.

A workable pit toilet. Kinda buggy.

The California/Oregon border. Neat o.

Huge snow drift at the top blocked the trail for about 1/3 of a mile. Discretion won out over valor, and we detoured up the steep rocky hill to the right. Slow and hard but much safer.

Artsy?

Really rocky camp spot at 17 miles. Great views, including Pilot Rock way of in the distance (looks like a thimble).

We decided to start early (5 or so) and try and get 22.5 miles in tomorrow and finish this section. That will allow us to get dinner at Calahams, and breakfast at Saied Cafe! I suspect the horses will smell the barn and finish this 22.5 miles easy (after 2 medium climbs, the last 10 miles is almost all downhill)
