May 5, 2022. Miles 407 (pinyon ) to Mile 418 (Mill Creek fire station. True Hiker Trash!

After a nice rest at a great camp, we off! Some great views as we stayed above the mist and clouds. “Just Mile” did a great job of planning this trip with realistic mile goals and water at our camps. 2 pretty solid climbs today with a little more down than up. Nice marked andContinue reading “May 5, 2022. Miles 407 (pinyon ) to Mile 418 (Mill Creek fire station. True Hiker Trash!”

Star Wars day! May the forth be with you. Miles 394 (Cooper Canton) to Mile 407 (Pinyon Flat). Mile 400 on the PCT!

Another nice normal start to our day with walking beginning at 7:55 We still were almost last to leave from this site. Nice clean water and flat places to pitch tents. Another perfect weather day with at most mild winds. It does start to get warm in the afternoon. Easy trails and great views TrailContinue reading “Star Wars day! May the forth be with you. May 3, 2022. Miles 384 (Little Jimmies) to mile 394 (Cooper Canyon)

Nice easy day was appreciated after killing ourselves the day before. A very civilized start to the hike at 8:00. We were about the last the leave as the PCT thru hikers are beasts and start very early every day. Burnt areas are far to common. Love the signs. You know your not lost! WeContinue reading “May 3, 2022. Miles 384 (Little Jimmies) to mile 394 (Cooper Canyon)”

May 2, 2022 miles 374 (Vincent Gap) to 394 (little Jimmies camp). Brutal climb in snow

After some logistical issues, Mike (Chief) Caleb (Jed Smith) and Sue (a #1 shuttle driver) dropped us off at Vincent Gap at 9:30 and the hike began. Craig drove me and Cherly from Sacto to Agua Dulce where we hopefully will finish this hike. A great crew! Our plan was to start at Vincent GapContinue reading “May 2, 2022 miles 374 (Vincent Gap) to 394 (little Jimmies camp). Brutal climb in snow”

Day 7 April 20. Miles 347 (Cajon water cashe) to mile 369 (inspiration point) and done till next week!

Thanks to a wonderful trail angel, Mary Munoz, I was driven to the water cache in the am and started hiking fresh. Since my car was 22 miles away, I still had to pack sleeping bag, tent, pad, 1st aid, etc but decided to leave my stove and heavy food to reduce weight. Last lookContinue reading “Day 7 April 20. Day 6 April 19. Weird day due to equipment issues. Miles 369 (inspiration point) to mile 374 (Vincent Gap) and miles 342 (Cajon) to mile 347 (water cache)

Since I had to go to REI to get pad patches, my normal hiking day was shot. So I used a friendly trail angel (Mary) who helped drive me around to various spots where I hiked from. The end result is I did get about 10 miles in today, and tomorrow I have 22 milesContinue reading “Day 6 April 19. Weird day due to equipment issues. Day 5. April 18. Cleghorn day use area (mile 329) to Cajon Pass Inn (mile 342). Section C done!!!h ID

To avoid the heat, started the day early at 6:00 am. The repair of the inflatable was a partial success. I could be comfortable for about 45 minutes when it would deflate to about 50% and stay there. With my extra clothes as a butt pad, this was workable. I will try to fix betterContinue reading “Day 5. April 18. Cleghorn day use area (mile 329) to Cajon Pass Inn (mile 342). Day 4. April 17. HAPPY EASTER!. Miles 314 to 329.5

Sadly, the patch job failed. I was able to use my extra clothes for makeshift pad. That little cushion, combined with utter exhaustion, allowed me a pretty good night rest in the horse area at Joshua bar. About 10 tents eventually were there. The owner of the bar took 4 of us to the trailContinue reading “Day 4. April 17. HAPPY EASTER!. Miles 314 to 329.5”
