Trail Angel Cindy picked me up at my van at Grumpys at 9 and took me to Walkers Pass at 10 to start hiking. Gonna be a big hot uphill climb with a late start to the day. 50 miles total this section, but pretty good water available with no more than a 12 mile water carry.

Mike (special forces veteran) joined me for some of the drive. He had to go to the hospital and had hernia surgery that day. Now off 6 to 8 weeks.

New section.

Up, up and up.

The famous Lupin. Very pretty!

Going that way!

Slight breeze and not to crazy hot!

Odd place for a plaque. Middle of nowhere.

Clouds keeping the sun from beating on you!

A few tough blowdowns still.

I decided to walk 1 more mile ahead to avoid the 1/4 mile walk and avoid the crowds.

Pretty nice spot. Made it 13 miles which is fine especially with the later start!

Someone wrote in the dirt “nice spot” to camp at, so I did and it was!
The plan is to start hiking by 5:45 so I can potentially get 18 miles in and finish in 3 days.
